NMC CHANGES
In
order to achieve
UK
registration all applicants
who apply to the NMC for
registration must undertake
an ONP. Application to the
ONP requires IELTS overall
band score of 6.5 or more on
the academic version with a
valid decision letter.
February 2007 onwards NMC
has changed its rules,
Candidate requires an
Academic score of IELTS 7
for getting the NMC decision
letter. ONP can be achieved
through a higher educational
institution, approved by the
NMC. (there are only limited
number of universities in
UK
which are approved by the
NMC to conduct the ONP)

conjunction with AIMA
SERVICES LTD.

THE NMC OVERSEAS NURSES
PROGRAMME (ONP)

requirement (academic
standard)
•20 days protected learning
(for all)
•A period of supervised
practice if necessary where
the defined competencies
must be achieved •The
decision lasts for 2 years

PROTECTED LEARNING
PERIOD
This is a compulsory 20 days learning period and is the base line
requirement for all overseas
trained nurses. The content
will comprise of elements of
nursing in uk with which
overseas trained nurses
won’t be familiar, like; the
UK law, relationship in the
healthcare team, health and
safety issues, drugs
administration, and so on… |
